McLean, VA – December 3, 2021 – Key Bridge Wireless LLC, a leader in dynamic spectrum management solutions, proudly participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Department of Defense's first functional 5G network on a U.S. military installation, held December 2, 2021, at Hill Air Force Base (AFB), Utah.
As part of the Dynamic Spectrum Utilization (DSU) program under the DoD's 5G-to-Next G Initiative, the event celebrated the deployment of a 13-cell, stand-alone 5G network testbed by Nokia. Key Bridge Wireless LLC CEO Jesse Caulfield delivered a vendor presentation on advanced spectrum coexistence technologies critical to enabling shared access in the 3.1-3.45 GHz band between military radar systems and commercial 5G networks.
The ceremony featured remarks from senior DoD and Air Force leaders, including Amanda Toman (Acting Principal Director, DoD 5G Initiative), Debra K. Stanislawski (Director, Tranche SG Prototyping and Experimentation, OUSD R&E), Col. Jenise Carroll (Commander, 75th Air Base Wing), and others. The program highlighted innovative solutions for contested and congested spectrum, aligning with Key Bridge's ongoing prototype work under NSC Project NSC-20-2093.
"This milestone demonstrates the power of industry-government collaboration to advance secure 5G capabilities for national defense," said Jesse Caulfield, CEO of Key Bridge Wireless LLC. "Our spectrum sharing expertise is central to ensuring military systems operate effectively alongside next-generation wireless networks."
Key Bridge Wireless LLC continues to lead development of Spectrum Coexistence and Sharing (SCS) prototypes at Hill AFB and the Utah Test and Training Range, supporting DoD priorities for efficient spectrum utilization.
