Key Bridge Announces Public Trial of TV Whitespace Spectrum Access System in Canada
McLean, VA – Key Bridge Global LLC today announced the commencement of public testing and review of its TV Whitespace Spectrum Access System (SAS) in Canada, opening up approximately 294 MHz of spectrum for wireless innovation and broadband applications.
The 30-day public trial, conducted in cooperation with Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), began on February 6, 2017. It enables interested parties to evaluate and test the Key Bridge system’s ability to accurately identify available channels for unlicensed TV band devices, register protected facilities, and ensure robust protection for authorized broadcast services and registered incumbents.
The Canadian TV Whitespace SAS is built on Key Bridge’s second-generation spectrum access platform—the same foundation being advanced for administration of the 3.5 GHz Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) band in the United States.
“In 2013 we received TV white space certification from the U.S. government and never stopped innovating,” said Jesse Caulfield, CEO of Key Bridge Global LLC. “Today I am very excited to demonstrate spectrum sharing and administration services under Canadian jurisdiction. We look forward to receiving public comment and feedback from the user community as we continue to expand dynamic spectrum solutions internationally.”
Interested parties are invited to participate in the trial by accessing the Key Bridge TV Whitespace test facility at http://ca.keybridgewireless.com.
