McLean, VA – June 15, 2021 – Key Bridge Wireless LLC, a leader in innovative spectrum management and wireless communications solutions, announces its selection to lead Project NSC-20-2093, the Dynamic Spectrum Sharing 5G Applications Prototype, under the National Spectrum Consortium (NSC). This initiative, funded by the Department of Defense (DoD) through an Other Transaction Agreement (OTA), positions Key Bridge to advance secure and efficient spectrum coexistence between military systems and next-generation 5G networks.
In partnership with Nokia Innovations, LLC, Key Bridge will lead the development of a Spectrum Coexistence and Sharing (SCS) system designed to enable airborne radar systems and 5G cellular telephony to operate seamlessly in the shared 3.1-3.45 GHz band. The project will be conducted at Hill Air Force Base and the Utah Test and Training Range in Utah, progressing through three phases: initial simulations and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing, iterative maturation with field demonstrations, and final integration for production-level stability. With a total project value exceeding $7.1 million, this effort aligns with the DoD's "5G – Next G" program and emphasizes open standards and iterative innovation.
"This award underscores Key Bridge's expertise in dynamic spectrum access technologies critical to national defense priorities," said Jesse Caulfield, CEO of Key Bridge Wireless LLC. "We look forward to delivering scalable SCS solutions that support reliable 5G operations while preserving essential radar capabilities for DoD missions."
