McLean, VA – May 2, 2022 – Key Bridge Wireless LLC, a pioneer in spectrum management and wireless solutions, today announced the successful completion of Phase 1 for Project NSC-20-2093, the Dynamic Spectrum Sharing 5G Applications Prototype, funded by the Department of Defense (DoD) through the National Spectrum Consortium (NSC).
Phase 1 focused on developing and maturing a prototype Spectrum Coexistence and Sharing (SCS) system to enable seamless operation between airborne radar systems and 5G cellular networks in the 3.1-3.45 GHz band. Key accomplishments include:
Conducted in collaboration with Nokia and stakeholders from the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC), this phase establishes a robust foundation for field demonstrations at Hill Air Force Base and the Utah Test and Training Range.
"This completion of Phase 1 validates our innovative approach to dynamic spectrum sharing, critical for maintaining DoD operational superiority while advancing 5G capabilities," said Jesse Caulfield, CEO of Key Bridge Wireless LLC. "By extending ESC and SAS technologies to new bands and integrating advanced AI, we're proving scalable solutions for contested spectrum environments."
The project aligns with the DoD's "5G – Next G" initiative, emphasizing detect-and-avoid strategies to mitigate interference without compromising mission-critical systems.
