Citizen Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) includes two primary control systems under Part 96 of the Federal Communication Commission's rules:
Under the FCC's part 96 rules, the ESC's function is to discern the presence (or absence) of a signal from a non-informing incumbent user ("NIIU"). Information about the the NIIU's presence, originating in the ESC, is required by the SAS to effect the protection of the NIIU's spectrum operation, which is implemented by selectively authorizing or de-authorizing CBSD operations.
The Key Bridge environmental sensing capability solution is implemented with custom software, integrated computer systems and commercial off-the-shelf sensor technologies that execute sophisticated spectrum sensing and signal detection strategies. Key Bridge ESC Infrastructure is implemented as a distributed, loosely-coupled client-server architecture of sensors and servers. Radio frequency sensing is implemented by ESC Sensor Nodes which are physically installed along the coastline of the United States, islands and territories.
Key Bridge ESC services are offered as a neutral service to government authorized CBRS Spectrum Access Service administrators.
